A Prayer For This Time of Change and Transition

The Transition Committee invites our Diocese to join together in prayer as we prepare for the consecration on May 20th:
Loving God, as Ecclesiastes reminds us, “For everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven.” We are in a time of change and transition as we give thanks for the ministry of Bishop Dietsche as our Bishop and look toward the consecration of the Bishop Coadjutor Elect, Fr. Matthew Heyd. We ask your presence as we celebrate the blessings of leadership we have known and hope for blessings yet to come. Be with Bishop Dietsche and his family as he approaches retirement and be with Fr. Heyd and his family as he prepares for his consecration as a Bishop. Let this be a time of listening and discernment as we hear your calling of us to work together to bear witness to God’s kingdom here in the Diocese of New York and in the world. We ask this in your most holy name. Amen.

Getting to the Cathedral ~ Public Transportation Advised

The weekend of the consecration will be a busy one in the vicinity of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, as Columbia graduations will be taking place then. Parking will not be available on the Cathedral Close and may be hard to find elsewhere. We recommend that if you plan to arrive by car, you either reserve space at a local garage as soon as possible (see link  below) or plan to park outside the immediate neighborhood.

Better still, plan either to travel by public transportation or to ride in one of the buses that are currently being coordinated from the Mid_Hudson, Westchester and Staten Island areas. Further details about these buses will be provided as soon as details have been finalized.

No Large Bags or Backpacks at the Service, Please!

Cathedral Security request and advise those attending the consecration service not to arrive with large bags or backpacks.
